Well, I’ve been here in Herrnhut, Germany for about a week and a half. We’re about to go into week 2 of classes here at the Levite Praise Institute. I’m still a little bit in shock that I’m even here – it’s such a joy and honor and it’s really a dream come true! It still feels a little surreal but it also feels totally right and peaceful. I am staying with my dear friend, Sue Williams, who lives and works here at Jesus Haus (guest house, church and house of prayer here in Herrnhut and where the LPI is hosted).
LPI has students who’ve come from all over the world – Germany, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, and the US. The instructors first have amazing hearts for the Lord and are also world-class professional musicians who’ve been doing what they do for longer than I’ve been alive. It is so good to sit under the teaching of ones who are farther along down the path I’m on and who have a similar heart and calling!! I’ve already learned SO much in just one week… and we’ve got seven weeks to go!!
I see this time as the Lord’s provision of a season of equipping for my next step into ministry when I return to Bellingham and Light of the World Prayer Center. What I’m hoping to gain out of the time here (high-level overview) is listed below in the form of prayer requests. I’ll be sending more specifics in the next week or two.
So…prayer requests!
- That in my time here I would have a greater and deeper revelation of the Man Jesus Christ – who He is, that my heart would be continually drawn to my first love in keeping with the First Commandment, and that everything else would be a response to Him.
- That I would have increased capacity to learn and retain everything that is for me to grasp here. It’s a fairly intense schedule with a lot of learning, instruction, playing, singing, collaborating, etc. I’m working specifically on two instruments (guitar and piano), and it’s mentally and physically demanding.
- That in the 2 months here there would be meaningful and lasing relationships developed with other students, instructors, and locals.
I’ve included some pictures below… the first two are from right outside the main entrance of Jesus Haus looking down the street in both directions. The wide panoramic is from Dresden, and the last one is from this morning’s worship time with the local church here. I’ll have more pictures of the school and students for you next week, so stay tuned! 🙂
